Orofer XT Tablet is an iron and folic acid supplement from Emcure Pharmaceuticals. Each film-coated tablet gives 100 mg of elemental iron as ferrous ascorbate. It also contains 1.5 mg of folic acid. Iron is needed to make haemoglobin, the protein that carries oxygen in the blood. Folic acid helps the body build healthy red blood cells. Doctors prescribe this combination for iron deficiency and anaemia. It is also used in pregnancy when extra iron and folate are needed. Ferrous ascorbate is generally well tolerated by the stomach. Take it exactly as your doctor advises. The tablets come in packs of 15 and 30.
