Milflox 0.5 Eye Drop is a prescription antibiotic eye drop made by Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. Each ml contains moxifloxacin hydrochloride equal to 5mg of moxifloxacin, a 0.5% w/v strength. Moxifloxacin belongs to the fluoroquinolone group of antibiotics. It works by blocking enzymes that bacteria need to copy their DNA, which stops them from multiplying. This clears the infection and lets the eye heal. Doctors use it mainly for bacterial conjunctivitis, often called pink eye. It may also be prescribed for other surface eye infections and to prevent infection after eye surgery. Common signs it helps with are redness, sticky discharge, swelling and irritation. The full course should be completed even if the eye looks better early. The drops come in a sterile 5ml bottle and should be used within one month of opening.
