Ivanode 5 Tablet is a prescription heart medicine from Torrent Pharmaceuticals used to treat stable angina (heart-related chest pain) and chronic heart failure. Each film-coated tablet contains Ivabradine Hydrochloride equivalent to Ivabradine 5 mg. By gently lowering the heart rate, it helps the heart work more efficiently, which reduces chest pain episodes, improves exercise tolerance and lowers the risk of hospitalisation in people with heart failure. It is usually prescribed as long-term treatment, either alone or with other heart medicines such as beta blockers. Each strip contains 10 tablets.

How It Works

Ivabradine works on the sinus node, the heart’s natural pacemaker. It selectively blocks the “funny” (If) current that controls how quickly the sinus node fires, so the heart beats more slowly without affecting the strength of each beat or blood pressure. A slower heart rate gives the heart more time to fill and to receive oxygen-rich blood through the coronary arteries, which reduces its oxygen demand, eases angina and helps a weakened heart pump more effectively.

How to Use

• Take the tablet exactly as prescribed, usually twice a day.
• Take it with food, at the same times each day.
• Swallow it whole with water.

Safety Advice

• This is a prescription medicine; use only under medical supervision.
• Do not use if you have a very slow resting heart rate, very low blood pressure, severe liver disease, certain heart rhythm disorders or recently worsened heart failure.
• Do not use during pregnancy, while trying to conceive or while breastfeeding. Avoid grapefruit juice.
• Common side effects include temporary flashes of brightness in vision, slow heart rate, dizziness and blurred vision. Seek help for fainting or an irregular heartbeat, and avoid driving until you know how it affects you.
• Tell your doctor about all medicines you take, especially some antifungal, HIV, antibiotic and blood pressure medicines. Store in a cool, dry place out of reach of children.
