Lipril 2.5 Tablet is a prescription heart and blood pressure medicine from Lupin Ltd. Each uncoated tablet contains Lisinopril IP equivalent to 2.5 mg of anhydrous Lisinopril. It is widely used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and heart failure, and it may also be prescribed after a heart attack to protect the heart. By keeping blood pressure under control, it lowers the long-term risk of heart attack, stroke and kidney problems. It can be used alone or together with other medicines, and it is considered suitable for long-term use. Each strip contains 15 tablets.

How It Works

Lisinopril belongs to a group of medicines called ACE (angiotensin-converting enzyme) inhibitors. It blocks the enzyme that produces angiotensin II, a hormone that narrows blood vessels. As a result, the blood vessels relax and widen, making it easier for the heart to pump blood around the body. This lowers blood pressure and reduces strain on the heart, which can improve heart function and ease symptoms of heart failure such as breathlessness and tiredness.

How to Use

• Take the tablet exactly as prescribed by your doctor, at about the same time each day.
• Swallow it with water, with or without food.
• Keep taking it even if you feel well; stopping suddenly can make your condition worse.
• Support treatment with exercise, weight control, less salt, less alcohol and no smoking.

Safety Advice

• This is a prescription medicine; use only under medical supervision.
• Do not use during pregnancy. Consult your doctor if you are breastfeeding or have kidney or liver problems.
• Common side effects include dizziness, headache, dry cough, low blood pressure, diarrhoea, vomiting, tiredness and raised potassium levels.
• Seek urgent help for swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat. Avoid potassium supplements unless your doctor advises them.
• Your doctor may check your blood pressure, kidney function and potassium levels regularly. Store between 20°C and 25°C, protected from moisture and out of reach of children.
