Advent 1.2gm Injection is a penicillin-class antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections of the lungs (such as pneumonia), ear, nasal sinus, urinary tract, skin, and soft tissue, and is also used for the prophylaxis of infections associated with certain surgeries, including gastrointestinal tract, pelvic cavity, head and neck, and biliary tract procedures. It combines Amoxycillin, a broad-spectrum antibiotic, with Clavulanic Acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor that helps overcome bacterial resistance, giving the combination a wider range of activity than Amoxycillin alone.
Amoxycillin works by preventing bacteria from building the protective cell wall they need to survive, which causes the bacteria to weaken and die off. Clavulanic Acid does not kill bacteria directly but protects Amoxycillin from being broken down by resistant bacterial enzymes, restoring its effectiveness against strains that would otherwise not respond. This injection will not work against infections caused by viruses.
Advent 1.2gm Injection is administered only by a doctor or nurse in a clinical setting and must never be self-administered. The dose and schedule are decided by the treating physician based on the severity of the infection. Even though improvement is usually felt within a few days, the complete prescribed course should be finished to ensure all bacteria are eliminated and to reduce the risk of the infection returning or becoming resistant.
