Hydrocortisone is a corticosteroid that calms down the body’s inflammatory and allergic responses. It can be given into a muscle or slowly into a vein, which lets doctors act quickly in urgent situations. Doctors use it for severe allergic reactions and for flare-ups of long-term inflammatory illnesses. It may also be chosen for certain eye disorders and as supportive care alongside other treatment. The powder is mixed with a suitable diluent just before it is given. The vial comes in a printed carton with a red flip-off cap that shows the pack is untouched.
