Klmite Cream
Klmite Cream from KLM Laboratories is a topical anti-parasitic preparation containing Permethrin IP 5% w/w, the treatment doctors reach for first in scabies. Scabies is caused by a microscopic mite that burrows into the upper layer of the skin, laying eggs and setting off the intense night-time itching and raised rash that gives the condition away. Permethrin is a synthetic pyrethroid that disrupts the mite’s nerve-cell membranes, paralysing and killing both the adult mites and their eggs after a single overnight application. The cream is applied from the neck down over the whole body, left on for 8 to 14 hours and then washed off, with a second application a week later if the doctor advises it. Supplied as a 60 g tube, which is enough for one full-body application in most adults.
