4th Generation HIV Test Kit – Rapid Self-Test for HIV-1 & HIV-2 Antibodies and p24 Antigen
The 4th Generation HIV Test Kit is a rapid, single-use screening device that detects both HIV-1/HIV-2 antibodies and the p24 antigen from a small finger-prick blood sample. Unlike older 3rd generation kits that detect antibodies alone, this 4th generation format picks up the p24 antigen that appears in the blood earlier after exposure, which shortens the window period and allows for earlier, more confident screening. The test is designed for easy at-home or clinic use, with a clear, easy-to-read result window and no laboratory equipment required.
Key Features
- Detects HIV-1 & HIV-2 antibodies together with p24 antigen for earlier detection
- Results in as little as 15–20 minutes
- Simple finger-prick blood collection – no venous draw needed
- High sensitivity and specificity, comparable to lab-based rapid assays
- Individually sealed, single-use device to prevent contamination
- No electricity or lab equipment required – can be used at home or in the field
What’s in the Box
- 1 x Test cassette (sealed in foil pouch with desiccant)
- 1 x Sterile lancet for finger-prick sample collection
- 1 x Buffer solution vial/dropper
- 1 x Alcohol swab
- 1 x Instructions for use (IFU) leaflet
How It Works
The test cassette uses immunochromatographic technology. A small blood sample is applied to the sample well, followed by the buffer solution. As the sample migrates across the membrane, it reacts with antigen/antibody-coated particles. If HIV-1/HIV-2 antibodies or p24 antigen are present, a coloured line appears in the test region alongside the control line, indicating a reactive (positive) result. A single control line with no test line indicates a non-reactive (negative) result.
Directions for Use
- Clean the fingertip with the provided alcohol swab and allow it to dry.
- Use the sterile lancet to prick the side of the fingertip and collect a drop of blood.
- Transfer the blood sample into the sample well of the test cassette as instructed in the leaflet.
- Add the recommended number of buffer drops to the well.
- Wait for the time specified in the IFU (typically 15–20 minutes) before reading the result. Do not read after the stated window.
Precautions
For single use only – do not reuse the cassette or lancet. This is a screening test; a reactive result must always be confirmed with a laboratory-based confirmatory test and a qualified healthcare provider. Do not use the kit past its expiry date or if the foil pouch is damaged. Keep away from children. Dispose of used lancets and cassettes safely as biohazard waste.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place between 2–30°C, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Do not freeze. Use immediately after opening the foil pouch.
