Finabald 1 mg Tablet – Finasteride IP 1 mg by East West Pharma
Finabald 1 mg from East West Pharma is a film-coated tablet of Finasteride IP 1 mg, the standard once-daily strength used for male pattern hair loss. Its target is an enzyme rather than a hormone. Testosterone itself is not what miniaturises the follicles on a genetically susceptible scalp – the culprit is dihydrotestosterone (DHT), made locally in the scalp when the enzyme 5-alpha reductase converts testosterone. DHT binds far more tightly to the follicle’s androgen receptors than testosterone does, and each hair cycle it produces a thinner, shorter, less pigmented shaft until the follicle stops producing a visible hair. Finasteride blocks the type II form of that enzyme and cuts scalp DHT substantially, so the miniaturisation slows or stops. The important consequence: this holds ground rather than restoring lost ground, so it works best started early, and the benefit disappears within about a year of stopping. Strip of 10 tablets.

Uses & Benefits
- Slows or halts the progression of male pattern hair loss
- Reduces the DHT that drives follicle miniaturisation on the scalp
- Many men see some regrowth on the crown over 6 to 12 months of continuous use
- A single small tablet a day – nothing to apply, nothing to wash out
- Often used alongside topical minoxidil, which works by a different mechanism
- The most-studied oral treatment for androgenetic alopecia in men
Directions for Use
- One tablet a day, or as directed by the physician – the strip states the dosage is set by your doctor
- Swallow it whole. Do not break, crush or chew the tablet – the film coat is what keeps the drug off your fingers
- With or without food, at the same time each day
- Give it at least 6 months before judging it, and take a photograph at the start – day-to-day change is impossible to see
- The effect stops when the tablets stop. Hair held by treatment is usually lost within about 12 months of stopping
Precautions
- The pack carries this warning: crushed or broken tablets should not be handled by women who are or may become pregnant. Finasteride absorbed through the skin can harm a male foetus. The film coating protects against contact with an intact tablet – do not break or crush them
- The pack also states that because finasteride is present in semen, male patients should wear a condom or otherwise avoid exposing a female partner at risk of becoming pregnant
- Not for use by women or children. Women of childbearing potential must not take it or handle broken tablets
- Finasteride lowers PSA readings by roughly half. Tell any doctor arranging a prostate test that you take it, or a raised result may be missed
- Reduced libido, erectile difficulty and reduced ejaculate volume occur in a small percentage and usually resolve on stopping. Persistent symptoms after stopping have been reported – discuss this with your doctor before starting
- Report breast lumps, breast pain or nipple discharge, any depression or mood change, or swelling of the lips or face straight away. Tell your doctor about liver disease
Storage
- Store in a cool place. Protect from light and moisture, as printed on the strip
- Keep the tablets sealed in the blister
- Keep out of reach of children
