Eptus 25 mg Tablet – Eplerenone 25 mg by Glenmark
Eptus 25 from Glenmark Pharmaceuticals contains Eplerenone IP 25 mg in a film-coated tablet. Eplerenone is a selective aldosterone antagonist, prescribed mainly to protect the heart after a heart attack and in chronic heart failure. Aldosterone is a hormone that tells the kidney to hold on to salt and water, and in a failing heart the body produces far too much of it – raising blood pressure, loading the heart with fluid, and over time driving the scarring that stiffens heart muscle. Eplerenone blocks the receptor that hormone acts on. Its selectivity is the point of difference from spironolactone, the older drug in this class: spironolactone also blocks androgen and progesterone receptors, which is why it commonly causes breast tenderness and enlargement in men. Eplerenone largely avoids that. Strip of 15 tablets. Prescription medicine.
