BJain Conium Maculatum Q is the mother tincture of hemlock, prepared by macerating the raw drug in alcohol and distilled water, then pressing, filtering and ageing. In homoeopathic practice Conium is a long-standing remedy for glandular hardness and induration, and is classically associated with complaints of the ageing prostate, with difficulty starting the stream and dribbling at the end. It also appears in the repertory for vertigo worse on turning the head, and for weakness following prolonged illness. Prepared by B. Jain Pharmaceuticals.

Directions for Use

• Usual adult dose: 10–15 drops in a quarter cup of water, three times a day

• Conium is prepared from hemlock, a poisonous plant – use only the homoeopathic preparation, only in the dose advised, and only under practitioner guidance
• Contains a high proportion of alcohol – take diluted; avoid in alcohol dependence or liver disease without medical advice
• Not for use in pregnancy or breastfeeding without a practitioner’s advice
• Prostate symptoms need medical assessment – retention of urine is an emergency, and prostate enlargement should be properly investigated
