Sofocure 400mg Tablet – Sofosbuvir 400 mg by Emcure
Sofocure 400mg Tablet from Emcure Pharmaceuticals contains Sofosbuvir 400 mg for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C virus infection. As a nucleotide analogue it blocks NS5B polymerase, the enzyme responsible for copying the viral genome, halting replication and allowing the body to clear the virus from the blood over the treatment period. Sofosbuvir is prescribed together with another direct-acting antiviral – and sometimes ribavirin – in a combination chosen by your doctor according to genotype and liver condition. Pack of 28 tablets.

Uses & Benefits
- Treatment of chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, in combination with other antivirals
- Steadily lowers the amount of virus in the blood over the course of treatment
- High cure rates when the full prescribed course is completed
- Can be used in compensated cirrhosis under specialist supervision
- Clearing the virus reduces the long-term risk of liver failure and liver cancer
- Simple one-tablet-a-day dosing alongside the partner medicine
Directions for Use
- Take exactly as prescribed – usually one tablet once daily with the partner antiviral
- Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not chew, crush or break it
- May be taken with or without food, but keep to the same time each day
- Complete the full course even when you feel well – stopping early risks relapse and resistance
- If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless the next is near; never double up
Precautions
- You must be tested for hepatitis B before starting. HBV can reactivate during HCV treatment and cause serious, sometimes fatal, liver injury
- Do not take with amiodarone – the combination can cause severe, potentially fatal slowing of the heart
- Never take sofosbuvir alone. Monotherapy does not cure hepatitis C and encourages resistance
- Tell your doctor about all other medicines, especially rifampicin, carbamazepine, phenytoin, St John’s Wort and certain HIV medicines, which can make treatment fail
- Common side effects include headache, tiredness, nausea and insomnia; anaemia is more likely if ribavirin is added
- Avoid alcohol; use with caution in severe kidney disease, and do not drive if you feel dizzy
Storage
- Store below 30°C in a dry place
- Keep in the original pack, protected from light and moisture
- Keep out of reach of children
