CTD 12.5 Tablet – Chlorthalidone 12.5 mg by Ipca

CTD 12.5 Tablet from Ipca Laboratories contains Chlorthalidone IP 12.5 mg, a long-acting thiazide-like diuretic used mainly to treat high blood pressure. It works by helping the kidneys clear excess water and salt from the body, which lowers the volume of circulating blood; over the following weeks, it also relaxes the blood vessels so blood flows more easily. Because a single dose keeps working for well over 24 hours, it holds blood pressure steady around the clock on once-daily dosing. It is also used to reduce fluid retention (oedema) linked to heart, liver, kidney or lung conditions. Strip of 15 uncoated tablets. Prescription required.

Key Features

  • Chlorthalidone IP 12.5 mg uncoated tablet
  • Long-acting thiazide-like diuretic – once-daily 24-hour control
  • Low starting strength, useful for gentle dose titration
  • Treats hypertension and fluid retention (oedema)
  • Strip of 15 tablets from Ipca Laboratories Ltd.

Composition

  • Chlorthalidone IP – 12.5 mg per uncoated tablet

Refer to the pack label and package insert for the complete list of excipients.

  • Common side effects include dizziness, stomach upset, low sodium or potassium, raised blood sugar and uric acid, and low blood pressure
  • Unsafe in pregnancy and while breastfeeding – tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to be
  • Contraindicated in liver disease; use with caution in kidney disease, gout or diabetes
  • May cause dizziness – do not drive until you know how it affects you, and rise slowly from sitting or lying
  • Limit alcohol, which worsens the dizziness and blood pressure drop
