Freelex Constipation Tablet is a laxative from Leeford Healthcare. Each tablet contains Bisacodyl 5mg in a gastro resistant coating. Bisacodyl is a stimulant laxative that acts directly on the large bowel. It gently wakes up the bowel muscles so that stool moves along more easily. It also helps draw water into the bowel, which softens hard stool. The special coating stops the tablet from dissolving in the stomach. This means the medicine works where it is needed and causes less stomach upset. When taken at night, it usually brings a bowel movement the next morning. It is used for short term relief of occasional constipation. Doctors may also advise it to empty the bowel before some tests or procedures.
