Permethrin & Cetrimide Lotion

Permethrin & Cetrimide Lotion is a high-potency dermatological intervention containing a synergistic combination of Permethrin (5.0% w/v) and Cetrimide (0.01% w/v). Specifically engineered for the clinical management of scabies and associated secondary skin infections, this lotion works by targeting both the parasitic infestation and the microbial environment of the skin. Permethrin, a potent synthetic pyrethroid, acts as a neurotoxin to Sarcoptes scabiei by disrupting the sodium channel currents, leading to delayed repolarization and subsequent paralysis and death of the mites and their eggs. Cetrimide, a powerful quaternary ammonium antiseptic, provides a decisive antimicrobial response by denaturing bacterial proteins, effectively treating and preventing secondary infections caused by intense scratching.

Precautions

For application to the skin only. Avoid contact with the eyes, nose, mouth, and mucous membranes.
Some patients may experience a temporary increase in itching or burning after application; this is often a reaction to the dying mites.
If accidental contact with the eyes occurs, flush immediately with large amounts of water.
Consult your healthcare professional before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Use in infants under 2 months of age is not recommended unless specifically directed by a pediatrician.
All household members and close contacts should be treated simultaneously, even if asymptomatic.

How to Use

Ensure the skin is clean, cool, and dry. Avoid taking a hot bath immediately before application.
Apply the lotion thoroughly from the neck down to the soles of the feet, paying special attention to skin folds, between fingers/toes, and under fingernails.
Gently massage the lotion into the skin until it is absorbed. If washing hands within the treatment period, re-apply to the hands.
Leave the lotion on the skin for 8 to 14 hours (typically overnight).
After the required time, wash the lotion off completely with lukewarm water and mild soap.
Wash all recently used bedding, towels, and clothing in hot water (60°C) to prevent re-infestation.
