Triluma Cream
Triluma Cream is a gold-standard dermatological treatment widely recognized for its efficacy in treating moderate to severe melasma of the face. Melasma is a complex skin condition characterized by symmetrical dark, brown, or grayish patches that often arise due to hormonal changes, pregnancy, or intense sun exposure. Triluma is a unique, FDA-approved triple-combination therapy that addresses hyperpigmentation through three distinct pathways. By combining a potent skin-lightening agent, a vitamin A derivative, and a mild corticosteroid, this cream provides a medical-grade solution for stubborn discoloration that typically fails to respond to standard brightening serums or over-the-counter cosmetics.
Key Features
- The only FDA-approved cream combining three active ingredients for comprehensive melasma treatment.
- Specifically formulated to fade dark patches and unify the complexion in cases of hormonal pigmentation.
- Many users observe a significant reduction in the intensity of dark spots within 4 to 8 weeks of consistent use.
- Often considered the first-line clinical treatment for resistant facial hyperpigmentation.
- Promotes cellular turnover, not only lightening spots but also refining overall skin texture and smoothness.
Key Ingredients
- Hydroquinone (4% w/w)
- Tretinoin (0.05% w/v)
- Fluocinolone Acetonide (0.01% w/v)
- Cream Base
Precautions
- Triluma must be applied only at night. The active ingredients are highly sensitive to light and can degrade or cause irritation if exposed to the sun.
- Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen and wear protective clothing during the day. Even minimal sun exposure can reverse the lightening effects.
- Do not apply to the corners of the nose, eyes, mouth, or onto open wounds and irritated skin.
- This is a short-term treatment. It is typically used for up to 8 weeks; long-term use without a break can lead to skin thinning or ochronosis.
- Triluma is strictly contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding due to the presence of Tretinoin.
- For topical dermatological use only. If accidental ingestion or eye contact occurs, seek medical attention immediately.
How to Use
- Begin by washing your face with a mild, soap-free cleanser and gently patting the skin dry.
- Wait at least 20 minutes before application to ensure the skin is not damp, which helps prevent irritation.
- Apply a very thin film of Triluma Cream to the hyperpigmented areas, extending about half an inch onto the surrounding healthy skin.
- Massage the cream in gently until it becomes invisible. Use the cream once daily, at least 30 minutes before bedtime.
- In the morning, wash your face thoroughly and immediately apply a high-quality sunscreen.
- If your skin becomes excessively dry, you may apply a basic moisturizer in the morning after washing.
